Ben Lang, Founder & Executive Editor of Road to VR

How Virtual Reality Can Teach You to Fly: True Virtual Reality is about more than just visual immersion. Come with me on a thought experiment where using commercially available brainwave-reading devices, some interesting psychological tricks, and a haptic suit, you could fly free as a bird.

Yuval Boger, CEO of Sensics

The market evolution of VR goggles: The talk will discuss the evolving differences between professional-grade and consumer-grade VR goggles. It will cover the sources of innovation in the market and examine methods and opportunities for individuals/enthusiasts to make significant contributions to the VR “state of the art

Daniel Hellerman, Local Game Developer

Virtual Reality, Sculpting Worlds in 2014 + Beyond: Presenting on the future of VR. Daniel's presentation examines what technologies are required for truly immersive experiences, how we got here, and what the future of Virtual Reality will be like.

After the presentations, there will be about 2 hours of networking time. There will be at least 5 demo stations for people to try VR experiences and give the developers valuable feedback. If you have a project/game that you'd like to demo, bring your rig and whatever other equipment you will need and you're all set! We are looking forward to bringing virtual reality to the city of brotherly love and the surrounding areas. I hope you are too! :)

Hey Guys! Unfortunately I won't be able to make it down from NY this evening. I changed my RSVP so some other lucky enthusiast can attend in my stead. Good luck tonight and congrats on Philly's phirst vr meetup!

I don' t know how far spread out people are, but it it is at least a 2hr drive for me, without traffic. If a lot of people coming from a long distance, it might be best to do a weekend. Also, is parking there going to be a challenge downtown?

Parking should be a little better because it's outside of the "center city" zone. There's also more parking the further north you travel. It's also in between the Girard and Spring Garden stops on the market/frankfurt line. If you can take a train from one of the regional rail stops, then get off at 11th and Market, you can get on the market/frankfurt line right there for just a 10 min subway ride. This might help you bypass some of the traffic.

Devnuts can do weekends! Street parking is pretty easy around here on weekdays, but like Chad said it's probably easiest if you're near a regional rail station to take that to Market East Station and then take the MFL to Spring Garden

I may not be able to make the meeting July 2 due to a business commitment. But I'm trying to reschedule that, and hope to see you all in Northern Liberties.

Glad to see a VR meetup in Philly! Are you still looking for demo rigs? I may be able to bring my setup (I may have jury duty that day), and wouldn't mind getting some feedback on a prototype I've been casually working on.
