Let's go see the salmon spawning in Still Creek!

This is a walk we haven't done for a while, and now there's a really good reason to do it again - I've just seen this video of salmon spawning in Still Creek (but unfortunately for some reason Meetup won't let me paste it into the text here, so it's at the bottom of this event description).

We'll follow Still Creek through Renfew Ravine, across Grandview Highway, and through the industrial area just north of there, going by where this video was shot.

Then we'll continue to follow Still Creek through the crows' nesting ground in the Still Creek Industrial Park.

We'll end the walk at Sperling Skytrain Station, unless we change our minds and do an interesting detour up through the Andrew Leong Green Trail to Beecher Park and then from there to Hastings to catch a bus.  Either way, the walk will end at public transportation.

• Dogs - OK if leashed and not aggressive.

• Kids - OK if accompanied

• This route will take us about 2.5-3 hours, longer if we stop and look at stuff.

We will wait 15 minutes for latecomers at the start, so the walk will start at 11:00.

• In case of heavy rain, the walk will be cancelled.  Notice will be sent out 24 hours ahead of time.

• Washroom breaks:  At Renfrew Community Centre and then probably at a MacDonald's or something, as there are no other public washrooms on the route.

For those who asked about distances, I have created an updated route map of the actual route we walked. If you can figure out how far you went, you can see how many kilometres it was. The URL for this route is

Seems to have worked out pretty well - even the weather wasn't too bad except for a short bit of rain.
