Walk Around Lake Union and Visit the New MOHAI Museum (free!)

The first Thursday of each month is free at MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry), so let's do the Lake Union walk and stop at the museum on the south end of the lake. Skip the parking hassle by walking there and finish the walk after seeing the museum! I expect we will spend about an hour inside the museum, which gets us back before sunset. If you don't want to visit the museum, be sure to take a map before we start the walk and you can continue the loop on your own.

Distance: 11K (about 7 miles)

Rating: 1A (mostly flat and paved)

Sign in early for the walk inside the store - be ready to go by 4pm. Do not park in the store's parking lot. There is free parking on the side streets that run north/south on either side of the store.

Walk Description: Keep the lake on your right is the basic rule as you circle Seattle's in-city recreational and marine industrial lake. Everything from yachts and houseboats to drydocks and South Lake Union Park. Restaurants and/or two drawbridges may detain you so that you can enjoy the views longer. Public restroom near start point; private/restaurant restrooms along route.

Directions: From I-5 north or southbound, take exit 169/NE 45th Street. Turn west onto NE 45th to Meridian Avenue North. Turn left onto Meridian and proceed downhill on Meridian. Fisheries Supply faces N 34th Street at the SW corner of Meridian and 34th. Turn onto 34th for the best on-street parking. Do not park in the store lot. Bus from downtown (3d Avenue N'bound): Metro #26.

If you want to carpool from the eastside, let me know. ~ Joy

Can you change the location to the 34th street address? A few years ago I was one of the people who waited in the N Northlake Way entrance.

The official address is 1900 N Northlake Way, which gets you to the right building -- it's just on the other side.

For those who haven't met at this location before, note the store faces north - 34th St. People have tried to find us (usually with the "help" of GPS) on the south side of the building, but that is a different Fisheries place. Remember not to park in the store lot - there is plenty of free parking along the side streets (Burke and Meridian.) Anyone not going due to rain or other reasons, please remember to cancel your RSVP. Thanks!

How about meeting at St Luke's Lutheran Church (3030 Bellevue Way NE)? It's one of the recommended alternate parking lots on the transit's construction website.
