November 17th is "Take A Hike Day" which is either about going for an exhilarating walk, or telling somebody to get lost…. we'll take the first definition and do the Counterbalance (urban hike) on Queen Anne! This is a challenging trail that descends from the top of Queen Anne Hill to the Seattle Pacific University campus, then follows the Lake Washington Ship Canal. The route ascends the hill, continues around the hilltop, then descends again through lovely residential streets, then climbs to the top again on the "Counterbalance."
Here's some interesting history about the Counterbalance: http://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/Piece-of-history-concealed-within-Queen-Anne-Hill-1198180.php
