Lafayette Reservoir Walk

  • Lafayette Reservoir

Lafayette Reservoir is a little hilly but it has a beautiful view of the water most of the way around.  It's about 3 miles and should take less than an hour. The trail is paved and there are plenty of restrooms.

Parking fees have increased due to the new construction. Parking is at the meters (quarters or a credit/debit card) or in the parking lot (bills or credit/debit card).  There is street parking but you have a bit of a hike up the hill to get to the meeting spot.

There are restrooms next to the parking lot and some port-a-potties along the way.

After the Walk

We usually go to Peet's Coffee at 3518 Mount Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette and meet in the courtyard behind it where there are tables. There are several other choices in that shopping center besides coffee.

Helen and Phyllis - the main parking lot for the reservoir is on top of the dam, which is to the left as you drive up the hill. The parking attendant shack is about halfway across the dam. We meet to the left of the shack (as you face it from the driveway). There will be close to 30 people there. It shouldn't be hard to find us if you show up on time. If you're late, we may have started without you. Can't keep 30 people just standing around forever.

Where exactly is the meeting spot. I've been to this place before. What are some of the major landmarks.

I'd like to carpool, as a driver or as a passenger, from western Contra Costs County. I live in El Sobrante. [masked]

Hi, I write a monthly column: Walking the Reservoir and I'd like to get folks reactions to our walk. I look forward to seeing you all.
