Travel Cafe: Downtown Sound with Syrian musician Omar Souleyman

Join us for another awesome travel cafe -- a casual, low-key opportunity to meet other globally minded women!

Now that summer is on it's way, we'll meet in Millennium Park for Downtown Sound. This is an awesome FREE outdoor concert series.

What to Bring:

We will have blankets available but feel free to bring your own blanket + food/beverages to share!

When to Come:

The concert begins at 6:30pm but we will be there starting at 6pm (if not earlier) to make sure we get a spot.

The musician performing is Omar Souleyman from Syria:

Omar Souleyman + Joshua Abrams’ Natural Information Society Hailing from Syria, Omar Souleyman not only changed the vibe of weddings throughout the Middle East with his Shaabi street sound, but also brought it to the West through his notorious late night festival slots. His latest release, Wenu Wenu, was produced by Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). Natural Information Society is the genre-defying project of Chicago bassist Joshua Abrams. In performance the music revolves around the sound of the guimbri (a Gnawan lute), integrating composition and improvisation to create hypnotic, highly rhythmic, sustained psychedelic environments.

Hi everyone! So they're making us pop the balloon because apparently it might destroy millennium park, but we are right smack-dab in the middle of the green! Aditi and ivanna are wearing bright orangey pink sweaters and we have a green blanket and blue blanket! See you soon!

I may not be able to leave work in time so I'm updating my RSVP just in case. :(

    Hi everyone!

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow (Monday) at our next Travel Cafe!

We'll be sitting smack-dab in the middle of Millennium Park. To make us easier to find, I'll also bring a red balloon with me so you can search for it among the crowd. If you still can't find us, feel free to call my cell at[masked]-1273.

What to bring: We'll be doing this concert picnic-style. I'l bring a blanket, but feel free to bring one of your own also. Snacks and beverages of all kinds are welcome! When to arrive: Though the concert should be starting closer to 6:30, I'm going to try to be there by about 5:30 in order to snag a space. Feel free to join me early!

    See you soon!
    Beth
