Summer is coming and time to get out on the water. check out our website.
If you’ve always wondered whether you’d like to sail your own boat, but don’t want to commit to the expense and hassle of owning a sailboat, now is your chance. Our learn-to-sail class is starting the weekend of April 12th and 13th at our slip in Annapolis. Our local sailing club, the Wanderlusters, is looking for new members who would like to sail the Chesapeake Bay at minimal trouble and expense. For a tiny fraction of the cost of owning or chartering a sailboat, our all-volunteer group (no paid staff, non-profit) has the use of two modest (27 and 31 ft) cruising sailboats, based in Annapolis. Members pay only a small fee that covers the cost of maintenance and mooring. The boats are available for periods from half a day to weekly.
It's not a problem if you don't know how to sail. The training includes four five-hour sessions of on-the-water sailing, supplemented by on-line material and hands-on instruction at the dock. The sailing sessions are led by our knowledgeable sailors, many of whom have advanced degrees in their subject matter as well as decades of sailing experience on the Bay and elsewhere. The class is free to new members who pay the one-time initiation fee of $275. This includes the use of the boats for the four on-water sessions, as well as the first year’s dues. Check out our web site, wanderlustersailing.org for more info, then, email [masked] and I will send you an application form and a schedule of classes and details of the club fees (web site may not be up-to-date).
