Clear weather is forecast for the day before the full moon.....which is perfect because the moon will show its bright little face about 45 minutes before sunset, allowing it to be higher in the sky before the sun leaves us for the day. We will meet at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon (Alta/Snowbird) at 6:00 and carpool up the canyon. We will hike to Catherine Pass which is between Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. About half the hike will be on packed ski runs and the other half will be either untracked or following previous hikers.....so bring both Yaktrax/Microspikes and snowshoes if you have both. The temperature should be cool but not cold. Dress in layers. This hike is about 1500 vertical and 2 miles each way. There are a couple steeper sections to go up, but not that bad.
For those interested, we will meet at a TBD location afterwards for drinks, food and socializing.
