Register and pay at the above site. Please complete the waiver before hand and bring it with you the morning of the class.

Please join us for a class on Sunday April 7 2013. Mike Aronoff has agreed to run an L3 class for our combined clubs at the discounted rate of $80 per club member-paddler. The class will be about 6 hours long. This is both a good value and a class I would highly recommend. Some of the WKC members joined James and I for this same class in Fall 2011. A good time and great lesson was had by all.

So one might ask why we are taking it again? The Level 3 class teaches refined strokes and paddling techniques. We both learned a lot but could easily re-take the class and learn more.

This is appropriate for paddlers who've already taken the L1 & L2 classes or have comparable experience. This class for the seasoned paddler who wants to rise to better control over their boat and learn a few tricks, while they are at it. I have heard this class referred to as "boat dancing."

Details:

Class is held in Reston at Lake Audubon. Use the lake access which is next to the pool's parking lot. The class will be held in lake.

Class size limited to about 12 paddlers.

Class length is about 6 plus hours.

Bring lunch, water, snacks, sunscreen.

Wet/Dry suits mandatory. The water will still be cold.

This is not a self-rescue class but be prepared to take a soak just in case, like always.

Cost is $80 for club members only.

Update on where to park etc to follow.

Got a lot out of this class. Am moving out of the wet suit and into a dry suit as I could really feel the wet suit limiting my mobility. Thanks Mike and Brian!

I really enjoyed the class and the great folks in it, positive and willing to try/ learn. We will do more, maybe more focused and an hour or so shorter . The wind and cold morning was bit of a challenge. Come on WARM

Will you be having L1 or L2 classes? I am not as experienced as the rest of the group.

Oops, meant to say "Please check out the instructor's site (now above) for the L1 and L2 courses." His company is a real pleasure to work with and many of us have taken instruction from them.

It sounds great, but I don't have a Dry Suit. I'm going to get one this coming winter for sure.

Sorry you both had to drop out. What will we do without Deke's pun-slinging fast and furious?! :-P

Do we need L1 & L2 before we take the L3?

    December 11, 2012

    • Randi K.

You've been paddling a long time Becky. You would probably be fine in this class.

Pete once mentioned that L2 is not required for L3 and most of us long time paddlers are pretty much L1 by default even if we have not taken the formal class.

    Hi Randi,
Just to be clear. One six hour class will be held on Saturday and another six hour class will be held on Sunday? And the $80 covers one six hour class?

    January 9, 2013

    • Randi K.

No, just one class, on Sunday. However he also has other L3 classes available. So anyone missing this one can still take it another date

Very tough to edit and respond using a phone I might add.

HIGHLY recommend this class. I took it again last September and I will volunteer to help Mike if I am able once the date is set. This is a great price and it is worth taking again even if you took it in the past.
