Gunn Peak (Very Hard)

Details
Come out for a big challenge with Gunn Peak!
Distance: 6 miles
Elevation Gain: 5,000 ft.
Difficulty: Very Hard
Time for something a little spicy! This one covers a lot of elevation in a short distance, and makes for a lot of adventure in a one day package. Expect a variety of hazards on this trail, including a creek crossing, steep forest paths, route-finding, bushwhacking, loose dirt, loose rock, class 3/4 scrambling, and a narrow traverse with high exposure. Despite these hazards, this route is generally done without the aid of ropes or technical gear. We will stay together moving as a team and help each other overcome each obstacle.
You should have excellent fitness, be very comfortable with class 3 terrain, and be able to deal with short sections of class 3+ or 4 scrambling. Parts of this trail involves high fall exposure. See the links below for details. This is not a suitable trip for the inexperienced.
Fortunately, the route to Gunn Peak is well documented. Please review these reports for information. Note that the mountaineers post is more recent. Do some prep work and be familiar with all parts of the route.

Tailgunner and Wing Peak are also potentially achievable as part of this trip. We will do Gunn Peak first and then assess whether the group has the time and energy to do some additional summits.

Expect a long day (10-12 hours on trail), as the difficult terrain will make for slow progress on both ascent and descent. Water is scarce above the ridge, so be sure to carry plenty, as well as the other 10 essentials. A helmet is required!
Because of the difficulty, everyone will start on the waitlist, with preference given to people I know are reliable. I will keep the group size small (4-8 total).
Riders should give $20 to their drivers for gas. Bring a plastic bag to place your boots in after the hike. An America the Beautiful Pass or Northwest Forest Pass is necessary to park at the trailhead.
Important: I am not a guide, and this is not a guided trip. You and yourself alone are responsible for your own safety. Please be conscious of your abilities before signing up.
