Project Night @ HubSpot (free event + noms)

Hi gals! We're excited to announce that the wonderful technical women of HubSpot will be our hosts for this project night.

Bring your laptop, current project(s), and prepare to make some progress! We'll do introductions around 6:30 to get a sense of the skill set in the room, then settle in to work.

A few HubSpotters are going to be on-hand to help out, including these gals.

Diane Yang is an front-end engineering intern at HubSpot. She also has experience in Python, C, PHP, and is beginning to dabble in Objective C. Ask her how much she loves OCaml.

Cecelia Auerswald is currently a software engineering intern at Hubspot who works mainly on back-end projects (Java and Python) but on the side also enjoys front-end coding and web-design.

Rose DeMaio is a 2 time software engineering co-op at HubSpot. She has experience working on back-end and front-end teams, and is happy to help answer (or help google) questions about Python/Django, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, and CSS.

In addition:

Mel Choyce is a design engineer at Automattic, where she works mostly on design and front-end development. Feel free to ask her about UI design, UX and user testing, HTML/CSS, and any beginner WordPress questions.

Kelly Dwan is a WordPress developer and core contributor. Familiar with the ins and outs of WordPress, she's happy to answer any theme or plugin development questions, or anything PHP, JS, CSS, HTML.

Project nights are super-informal and low-key. We always have attendees of all experience levels--don't feel like you have to be "good" or know "something" before you can come hang out with us. If you feel like the term pre-beginner applies to you, project nights are a great time to meet other code-curious gals and start figuring out what you need to learn to start working toward your goals. We guarantee that you'll meet someone who will nerd out about what you are interested in and make you excited to start tinkering.

Reasons why you should come work with us:

Accountability: it's the perfect way to get away from it all (other work, family, the laundry) and work

Nerd friends: you'll meet other women who are coding and creating awesome stuff

Practice: it's an opportunity to practice some of the skills you've picked up if you've taken some of our classes

Brain exchange: you can ask your neighbor for help on a bug or teach a n00b how to do something you've mastered

No agendaHave non-technical work to do? Need a sounding board? Looking for feedback? Just want to get your inbox under control? You're welcome too!

Perks:

+ Fast, reliable internet

+ Refreshments! (Thank you HubSpot!)

+ Way more fun than working in a coffee shop =)
