How amazing!

I'm so pumped for tonight - I just finished the organic gingerbread (no slave sugar) and am heading off to meet the other Elizabeth to set up.

See you in a bit!

Becky

Hi Becky,

I'm looking forward to some great discussion tonight!  You know.. I have managed to come into contact with a former cocoa plantation worker.  There is this man in my office building that worked on his father's cocoa plantation (along the Ivory Coast) as a child.  He has an interesting perspective.  I don't know if he'd be able to make it to the Meetup tonight but... he's agreed to speak at one of my Meetups.  Just thought I'd let you know about this contact we have on hand.

Subject: [trafficking-19] April Meetup TONIGHT at 7pm
Date: Thu, 19 Apr[masked]:29:16 -0400 (EDT)

A special announcement from Becky, Organizer of The Washington DC Fight Human Trafficking Meetup Group

Dear Abolitionists,

That's right - tonight is the April meetup! 7pm at All Souls Unitarian Church (1500 Harvard St, NW). This week will be focused on labor slavery and how it relates to fair trade, immigration, and smuggling.

Guest: Fair Trade Meetup's Organizer Elizabeth

To be Discussed:

To be Viewed:
Then, we'll show a film from the International Organization for Migration about smuggling vs. trafficking and how many people are exploited for labor slavery.

To be Eaten:
Gingerbread & cookies, courtesy of your organizers biggrin Will be made with slavery free ingredients, because many people (including children) are forced to work in the cocoa and sugar cane industries - see below.

Hope to see you tonight!

Daphne, Elizabeth and Becky
