- The Impact of Social Movements on Hiring - a generational approach
*Brought to you by SMARTRECRUITERS x HR GIRLFRIENDS* Social Movements date back over 200 years, but only recently have they been coupled with a term known as hashtag activism (i.e. #MeToo, #MarchForOurLives, #BlackLivesMatter). These movements not only impact the world we live in and play, but where we work and conduct business. Have you stopped to consider how modern social movements affect hiring decisions? What role does the virality of hashtag activism play when recruiting for key positions within an organization? For organizations that may already be struggling to source and secure talent, social movements add a new level of urgency for current and non-existent Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. Our generationally diverse panel will discuss the evolution of social movements and its impact on hiring, how hashtag activism via social media influences hiring strategies, as well as share their perspectives on what’s on the horizon. MODERATOR: Sana' Rasul - Chief Girlfriend @ HR Girlfriends: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sanarasul/ PANELISTS: Andria Bagwell - Senior Human Resources Professional https://www.linkedin.com/in/andria-bagwell-a4117b9b/ Richard Bronson - Founder/CEO @ 70MillionJob https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-bronson-6b00675/ Akosua Opong-Mensah - Human Resources Strategist @ Penumbra https://www.linkedin.com/in/akosua/ Albrey Brown - Diversity & Inclusion Manager @ Pivotal Software https://www.linkedin.com/in/albreybrown/ Good&Co will kindly sponsor food & drinks for the event 😋🌯 Using a proprietary psychometric algorithm, Good&Co helps companies increase employee engagement, reduce turnover and make better hiring decisions, while empowering millions of employees to make smarter, more informed career decisions: https://good.co/
- Diversity & Inclusion: Tactics for a more inclusive workplace
Diversity is being invited to a party, inclusion is being asked to dance. Are employees in your company all invited to dance? This summer meetup at SmartRecruiters will gather amazing Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) professionals to discuss challenges and ideas to have an inclusive workplace. We are going to follow a slightly different format where each speaker will give a short presentation (10mn) followed by a Q&A session. Food for thought and body will be at our new offices on 225 Bush St., San Francisco starting at 5:30pm. 5:30-6: Mix & Mingle 6-7: Lightning Talks 7-7:15: Q&A 7:15-9: Mix & Mingle some more We will be welcoming: Ilit Raz, CEO @Joonko: Her story began in early 2016, after 13 years as a woman in tech and experiencing unconscious, and conscious, bias - she decided to change the way people work. That's when she founded Joonko - the first AI-powered diversity and inclusion coach for companies, which can identify and solve unconscious bias in real-time. Her drive with Joonko is to prevent other girls, who are now starting their computer science studies, not to have the same experience she had. Benjamin Bustamente, Manager of Employment Services @The SF LGBT Center: He decided to give back to the community by joining the Center's employment program and is now helping LGBT job seekers find their dream job. With experience in internet and software start-ups, statewide energy conservation, alternative energy, and political legislative consulting, Benjamin brings a wealth of experience in fast-paced work environments. Benjamin has been called a “bridge” by many colleagues because of his ability to work with diverse groups, individuals, teams, and other stakeholders. Ciara Trinidad, Head of Diversity & Inclusion @Lever: She works alongside a team that's looking to revolutionize the way companies like Netflix and Lyft think about recruiting. Having a 50:50 gender ratio at Lever is something that she is wildly proud of. At Lever, Ciara is responsible to ensuring that all Leveroos voices are heard, that the facilities and environment is open and inviting of all people and by creating peopleprograms that foster true inclusion. Having worked previously at Apple, Ciara is wildly passionate about creating phenomenal customer experiences. Sandi Lurie, Senior Director of Global Recruiting @Optimizely: Sandi is the senior director of global recruiting at Optimizely, where she manages the full-cycle recruitment of the org's global openings and oversees the efficacy of all talent acquisition programs and initiatives. Before joining Optimizely, Sandi was LinkedIn's Head of Talent for Marketing, Success and G&A, was a consultant to help build the talent teams for Medalla and Zendesk after leading Product and Engineering Recruiting at salesforce.com (http://salesforce.com/) Brandon Davis, Division Director @The Creative Group: He is the Division Director & Vice President for The Creative Group, from which the subject of Diversity & Inclusion is near and dear. His company specializes in connecting organizations ranging from startups to corporations within; UX, design, creative project management, marketing/advertising, and PR talent. In 2012, he was on the other side of the fence as a candidate embarking on a job hunt. However, his experience seeking work as an unemployed gay black male ended up greatly influencing his brand of recruiting/staffing today, in both consulting with candidates and clients alike. His battle against the day-to-day obstacles that impede diversification is ongoing; both within his own organization and with external clients, and he hopes to help empower his candidates to do the same.
- Can Technology Improve Candidate Experience?
Hi Everyone! We're looking forward to our first Meetup of the year on Candidate Experience. We’ll discuss the factors that have a huge impact on a positive candidate experience and share best practices for applying these learnings. Our Moderator, Kevin Grossman, is a certified Talent Acquisition Strategist (TAS) & Human Capital Strategist (HCS) by HCI with over 18 years of domain expertise. He is currently the Talent Board President responsible for all aspects of the Candidate Experience Awards program and other Talent Board activities worldwide. Our first panelist, Matt Walker, comes straight from the streets of SoMa and is on a constant mission to find the world's best candidates. He's personally worked with over 100 startups in Silicon Valley and his extensive background in agency recruiter taught him that by putting forth every effort to understand people and technology, you can come to a caring, and more accurate way for connecting and matching companies and candidates to find the best fit. Our second panelist, Curtis Smith, has founded a number of startups in the HR & Recruiting space. He has worked with companies of all shapes and sizes to implement both hiring processes and ATS's. He currently serves as the Director of Talent Acquisition at Scality, a well-funded & reputable startup here in San Francisco. Our final panelist, Roy Baladi, is a Product Manager here at SmartRecruiters. As our in-house Candidate Experience expert, he conceptualized and launched our first-in-class candidate portal. This product shed light into the application process and is used by 5 million job applicants to manage their communication with hiring teams and see the progress on their applications.
- Rise of the machines: Can AI & Machine Learning replace the recruiting function?
Hello Hiring Success Innovators! We're making it a mission to revive this meetup. The plan is to host events focused on innovations in recruiting tech and on the process of developing recruiting technology products. We'll ask provocative (but fun!) questions and start some great conversations around the products and ideas that are fast disrupting the way that companies hire and recruit. For our first event, we will be asking the question: Can the rapid developments in AI and Machine Learning technologies replace the wisdom and knowledge of experienced recruiters and sourcers? Today, we're seeing the application of Machine Learning and AI in almost every industry — self-driving cars, chatbots, calendar scheduling, meal ordering. How far can we go with these new technologies and how does the recruiting industry view the adoption of artificial intelligence? Is there a place for machines within a fundamentally human driven process? We're planning to invite some experts who are at the very forefront of developing intelligent recruiting products. It will either be a presentation format or a panel, followed by group discussion. Finally, we'll make sure no one goes hungry. There will be hors d'oeuvres for nibbling and drinks for sipping. We welcome all folks who are interested in the recruiting industry. Join us if you're part of the talent team at your company, if you're a candidate, if you're a product manager, designer, or engineer who is working on HR technology, or are just enjoy a good conversation.
