    Expose UX is the web TV show where startups compete for prizes while getting feedback from user experience experts. It's Shark Tank for UX design. Learn from the experts' advice and improve your own product! Watch past episodes from Season 1 here.

    Back in an all new format, Season 2 is filmed in front of studio audiences in different cities around the country. The startups get 30 seconds to pitch, 2 minutes to demo their product, and then the experts give their feedback on how to improve the products. Plus, after the experts provide their feedback, they choose a winner based on who has the best user experience!

    Come to General Assembly Santa Monica to be part of the first audience to see the only UX focused TV show and discuss the importance of UX with peers in the tech, startup, design, and programming communities!

    Learn from these User Experience Experts

    Leo Frishberg is Founding Principal of Phase II (http://www.phaseiidesign.com/), a Portland, OR based UX and product strategy consultancy. His UX leadership extends back 30+ years. As Product Design Manager at Intel, he led multiple enterprise UX teams. As Principal UX Architect at Tektronix, he established UX as a strategic component of the business. Most recently, he authored Presumptive Design (http://www.presumptivedesign.com/), a leading-edge design research method.

    Rachel Nabors is a UI animation consultant and international speaker in Portland, Oregon. She curates WebAnimationWeekly.com (http://webanimationweekly.com/), founded the Animation at Work community, and represents the interests of web animation folk as an invited expert at the W3C.

    Samuel Hulick is the author of The Elements of User Onboarding (https://www.useronboard.com/training/). As the creator of UserOnBoard.com, he’s combined UX savvy and a cat-like curiosity for measuring UX impact to become an expert in onboarding. His approach is shaped by over a decade of web experience, theories taken from behavioral psychology, video game design, and even filmmaking.

    User Experience Experts

    Lynn Boyden is an Information Architect at the University of Southern California, where she leads UX research and design, content strategy, and site strategy for USC websites. She worked as an Information Architect at Symantec and then at Yahoo for about fifteen minutes. After this she ran the LA office of FatDUX, with a client list that included the University of Illinois, UCLA, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and KBHome. She has taught Information Architecture in the UCLA Information Studies MLIS program since 2000.

    Jill DaSilva is the CEO of Digital Karma, and an IxD Advisory Board Member for Santa Monica College. She's worked with brands such as Fox, Buick, Walgreen's, and Digitas. At General Assembly, she instructs postgraduate level professionals about the field of UX and how to become a professional UX designer. Jill began programming at 8 years old and has been designing digital products for over 15 years.

    Chris Chandler is the Design Practice Lead at Philosophie. Previously, he was the User Experience Director at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online, and Senior Director of Product Experience at Fandango. Chris also lectures on Information Architecture and User Centered Design at UCLA for the Information Studies Department. He is a founder of the LAUX Meetup, which serves over 3,600 members.

    This is a special event geared for startups, makers, designers, and inventors to showcase products made their own products to other attendees at the event. While also being able to have it broadcasted and streamed via Periscope. A great way to get publicity and a great way for video content creators to film content about futuristic products that might change the world.
    Makers of gadgets, drones, wearables, IoT devices, VR/AR products, 3D printers, and other emerging tech makers/inventors/entrepreneurs will be able to show and tell their products to other people. It is advised that all inventors, makers, and entrepreneurs that will be attending bring more than one product in order to give to a social media influencer or blogger.
    At this event everyone is encouraged to share with other developers basic tech tips on how the product was developed. Without revealing too much information.
    In addition, we will have a shark tank type panel where those with innovative products get to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges.

  • Futurism: Virtual Reality Filmmaking and Emerging Tech

    This event is dedicated to inspiring people to think about the future. Since we are in LA, the heart of the film industry, we will dedicate half the event to Virtual Reality for filmmaking.
    VR for Film Panel:
    Chadwick Turner from Vrideo, a distribution platform for immersive videos will discuss the ways in which filmmakers can learn the basics of creating immersive videos and films in the space of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, or 360 cameras. We will also have Christine Heller from VR Playhouse on the panel.
    Presentation on IoT device, Cujo, invested by Einaras Gravrock:

  • Web Applications for VR and AR: Redefining Media, Movies, & Entertainment

    This will be an event to learn about how Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality is going to be the new way activist create awareness, how telepresence will change how we communicate, how VR will turn 3D Imax Films by making them look like B&W Silent films, how we play video games, and even how we travel. There will be a presentation showing various ways that web developers are making various applications to integrate with VR and AR functionalities beyond just video gaming.

  • Tizen DevLab & Hack

    Cross Campus

    Join the Tizen experts and learn how to build and/or port your first mobile Tizen app using HTML5 during this DevLab and Hack (http://bit.ly/17S6eJF). It will take place at Cross Campus in Santa Monica on the 13th & 14th of December. The Tizen OS is the new mobile version of Linux, largely based on HTML5 and backed by Intel, Samsung and LG.

    The event kicks off on Friday with a short DevLab which will cover the SDK, web api's and libraries.

    We will make sure to have SDK's available and enough technical support throughout the event. And of course, beer and yummy food will be provided!

    $2k in cash prizes and developer devices for teams who hack an app!
