Join Web Content Mavens for a discussion about user experience in app and web development projects, making devs into UXers and practical UX in real-world projects.

Key discussion points:

- Practical UX principles that devs & techies need to know

- How to make developers into UXers

- UX when you don't have UX staff or expertise

- Making theoretical UX work in a real dev environment

- Good processes for UX in development

SCHEDULE

Come at 6:30 for empanadas, drinks (adult & otherwise) and networking. The panel begins at 7:00 and ends by 8:30. There will be a raffle from our host, Teksystems, so stay until the end!

SPEAKERS

Scott Savage, Boost Labs

Scott Savage has been working with the web since a high school internship at WeatherBug in 1998, and is a locally recognized expert in web design, user experience, information architecture, and Section 508. He has worked with national brands and agencies such as Sallie Mae, SAIC, and Monster.com, and now serves as a UX Architect with Boost Labs, LLC.

Cobey Potter, Wellfire Interactive

Cobey Potter is a partner and senior designer at Wellfire Interactive, a firm he helped start in 2007. Since graduating with a degree in Cognitive Science from UVA, he has worked with local, national, & international clients, helping solidify and bring their ideas to the web. He has a serious liking to mid-century modern architecture and design, but has been told on numerous occasions he looks like a Viking (headshot notwithstanding).

Jordan DeVries, BraveUX

Jordan DeVries is a former developer, animator, editor, and designer, currently directing experiences at Brave UX. He has tackled challenges for everyone from Rosetta Stone and McDonald's, to Novartis and Federal Occupational Health. His goal is to advocate the user - and to make interfaces a better experience for everyone.
