„Press start to play“: Webilea@SMR (Spielzeugmuseum Riehen)

Eight out of ten teens are fond of them. They make more money than the filmindustry. The talk is about games. From the first examples like Pac-Man or Donkey Kong to the latest Smart Phone Apps: Since more than thirty years Video and Computer Games are part of our culture. This can be explored at the exhibition "press start to play" at the Spielzeugmuseum Riehen.

Join „Webilea powered by i-net“ to visit "press start to play" and learn more about game design and the gaming industry.

Program:

Guided tour by Dominik Marosi, curator of the exhibition "press start to play"

Introduction by Marc Bodmer, internationally renown gaming expert and freelance journalist for "NZZ", "SonntagsBlick" and "Bolero Men"

Game Designer at work:

Samuel Vonäsch, elephantatwork.ch, presents "CMYK", a fast-paced multiplayer jump'n'run for the upcoming console Ouya

Stefan Gerber, sgerber.com, presents "Ago", a sandbox adventure set in a prehistoric world, where players have to find water, build weapons, hunt for food and defend themselves to survive

The presentations and discussions will be followed by a relaxed get together with food and drinks.

Thanks to all of you for taking part in this event! Just a few things:

    1) You can follow us at Twitter via @SpielRiehen and on Facebook.com/spielzeugmuseumriehen. 2) We have some more events this year: Saturday, November 16 - A live-jazz soundtrack, improvised for a game being played. And on December 5th, we will discuss Games and Moral with Florian Faller, a researcher from the ZHDK.

    3) I found a necklace with a pendant at the museum, is anyone missing something? It can be collected at the museum's staff. 4) If you have any (more) pictures from the event, please send them to me. My camera failed me miserably… Just get in touch!

Thanks for a really professional event. Nice tour back in time (and childhood memories) as well as inspiring presentations from some very smart people. I personally thought the Beatles Rock Band stage was an awesome round off!
