Alex + 6 is a well-seasoned septet that will present a fizzing set of horn-heavy swing. Join us as we explore some new interpretations of familiar melodies and underground favourites. Expect to hear exhilarating tunes from the finest jazz composers, heart-wrenching Broadway ballads, and danceable delights.

We will be joined for this very special gig by the stunning vocalist Ella Dunbar-Wilcox, who is a Wellington-based jazz vocalist. She recorded her debut album Almost Love in 2024. Ella is highly in demand, and we are very excited to have her appear in both sets.

Inspired by classic albums such as Art Pepper + 11, Oliver Nelson's The Blues And The Abstract Truth, and Oscar Pettiford's Octet and Nonet, the arrangements are appealingly simple and allow all the members to shine through.
