I'm organizing a 3 day and 3 nights on board trip on a 4 double cabin yacht, 44 foot, fully coded and insured charter boat. As skipper a commercially endorsed Yachmaster. As usual, serious fun with security and safety in mind. This trip is also perfect for novices as you will be in professional hands and will have the chance to securely learn about this fantastic sport, and meet people in a wonderful environment. We will also be visiting the towns where we get to.
Intro to Alicante
Alicante is the Little Barcelona of the south East Spain, cosmopolitan and with an enviable weather. Daytime temperature in March is around 20 C, during the day, sunny and lovely!. So plenty of time to sail, sunbathe and relax. Maybe the water will be a bit too cold for swimming. There is good wind and seas are usually flat, no tide to worry about, so sailing is an absolutely pleasure and fun.
Take the late Thursday evening flight after work (only hand luggage needed) and return on Sunday night, jolly, happy, invigorated, well sailed and tan!
The Alicante marina-harbour is a short cab ride from the Alicante airport, about 20 minutes and max 20 euros per cab. There is also a bus shuttle service every 20 minutes for ~2.5 euro.
Alicante harbour/marina has fantastic facilities and restaurants, bars etc. all around....and the beach!
Itinerary (subject to improvement, suggestions and wind direction):
We will arrive around midnight on Thursday 7th, so the idea is going straight to the boat, or go out for a drink and something to eat at the near by pubs in la Rambla.
On Friday after breakfast, we will sail off towards the picturesque La Vila Joiosa which literally translates like The Jolly Village. The journey is around 3-4 hours depending on how much tacking we have to do...is up to us mock around and spend more time at sea...or at the town..(democratic vote) we can also go to Altea which is 6 hours away depending on wind direction.
We will have time to visit the town and relax, we will spend the night here at the marina, so we can go out to the promenade and enjoy some local food.....Paella and local fish ;-) overlooking the Mare Nostrum (Roman name for the Med)
We will set off on Saturday after breakfast for a day sailing around Calpe bay and might go to Moraira or back to Alicante in the evening.
Calpe, Ifach rock.
Next, on Sunday morning we go for a day sailing to the island of Tabarca, have lunch at an lovely anchorage and sail off towards Alicante aiming to arrive by 4-5pm so everyone can get the plane back to UK.
We will have a kitty for alcoholic drinks, and we will eat out 2 nights and normally works out €15-€20 each.
Bedding is included you don't need a sleeping bag, also a towel is provided. I will also provide toothpaste, shower gel and sunscreen so we don't have to bring hold luggage just for the liquids. Bring only hand luggage.
Benidorm island on our way.
