What we’re about
Many of you know that our Drum Master Baba Abubakr Kouyate, passed away a few years ago. He taught us in the traditional African village style. All levels played and learned complex rhythms together on sangba, dunnun-ba, kenkeni, and djembe. Each person learned at his/her own pace. It was a beautiful tribe of many who came and went. Many are still here on this group but we have not been together in a long time.
Abubakr is no longer with us and all websites that I could find are no longer up. This group was going with no organizer and about to be deleted by meetup so I have stepped up to become the organizer of this group. A long time ago when I was active in drumming with Abubakr I was a co-organizer of this group as well as I hosted his classes at my wellness center for many years.
I don't know where this will go, I will probably change the name in the future, and if you have interest in getting together to drum please write to me thru private message and let's see what we can pull together!
