Annadel State Park (INT / 19mi / 2800 gain)

Alright, enough is enough. I've heard nothing but great things about Annadel, so we're going. Now I know this is a long haul for most of us but who cares, it will be a good warm up for the drive to Tahoe in June. I'm planning on starting the ride at 10:30am, so we'll have to meet around 8am in San Jose to allow plenty of time to get there and find the parking lot. This will be my first time at this park, so I can't really tell you anything about it other than it's rocky. Like STP on steroids rocky. So be prepared for a technical and fun ride. As I gather a little more info I'll post up a map of our route.

RIDE RATING:

INTERMEDIATE RIDE: We're not hammering the climbs or setting downhill records on this ride. We'll take some breaks including a break at the top to refuel.

TECH 9/10: There are rocks everywhere from what I'm told. Rocks of all sizes and shapes, so be prepared to test your skills

PHYS 7/10: From what I read the climbs here are not crazy steep. The rocks are what make them difficult. We are however riding nearly 20 miles.

19 miles

2800ft gain

Please remember that our rides require a properly maintained mountain bike and helmet. If you have questions regarding gear feel free to shoot me an email and I can make suggestions or point you to an expert in your area.

See you out there,

David

I have to attend training all day the 23rd. I'm gonna NEED to go :) As long as I can catch a ride, that is. Happy to pitch for gas.
It doesn't look like a rocky horror show. Here's a decent link that marked the trails and short descriptions. Should be fun.

Looks like I'm out for the second time in as many weeks. The crappy bug I have is still lingering, and still feeling a little rundown. Was hoping it would be gone by now. But, probably not a good idea to go too hard until I get rid of this pest.
I'm sure it would be a blast. And thanks for the ride offer David. See ya'll next time.

I haven't been riding much. Even if I could make it there, I don't think I can endure the route. Maybe later in the year....

The Russian River Brewery should be a mandatory stop afterwards. Sample the MTBR beer of choice Pliny the Elder while you are there.

I'm going to be in Patagonia during March, otherwise I'd go on this ride.

Its an Oregon style brewery. Lots of Hops. If you don't like hoppy beer it might not be your kind of place.

They have other beers too. Pliny is a good IPA, and seems to be the standard fare many go for. Salvation is a nice dark ale, and Supplication and Consecration are good sours.

Just a reminder everyone. This place is rocky both up and down. I've never been but I'm told it is quite technical.

I've been a few times. I may need to back out of this one. I may not have a way to get my bike any where, major bummer.

If you can ride Stiles and Rocky Ridge, you'll be OK. Most places are not as "sharp", more rounded, and easier to roll over.

Based on where I see you on your commute we live close enough that I could pick you up.
