THIS RIDE IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS. We will be doing a "Light Intermediate" ride at Demo. You will need to have had experience in technical singletrack on the downhill (roots, relatively bumpy portions, and some short steep sections). You don't need to be fast, you just need to be able to clear these things without having to walk. We will be going at a very social pace so in a way this ride is great if you've never been to DEMO, but you've ridden at a lot of other technical places.
As an example, you'll be fine if you've ridden any of the trails without freaking out:
- Wilder Ranch (i.e. Enchanted trail, Zane Grey, Old Cabin,)
- The upper trails at DeLaveaga
- Stevens Creek Canyon
- Longridge at Saratoga Gap
- Santa Teresa - Rocky Ridge
The entrance to Demo Forest on Highland Way can be found here at these coordinates in case the map link does not work:[masked],[masked]
Directions from San Jose:
Go south on Hwy 17
Exit Summit Road, you will make a loop and you will go right.
Keep Driving down Summit, and you will see Highland Way down a couple of miles
Stay on Highland Way for a couple miles until you get to entrance of Demo Forest.
You will usually see a bunch of cars parked at the entrance to Demo Forest. Look for my Silver Ford Mustang with a Yakima Roof Rack. I'm the relatively tall Filipino guy with a Black Yeti -SB66.
Bring your helmet (cause it's required) and a ton of water since it gets HOT here. Have your bike ride all dialed and ready to go. Bring pads if you feel you need them.
Tires roll at 8:15 am.
