Soquel Demo Forest - Intermediate ride

We'll go for two+ loops at an intermediate pace, regrouping at junctions. I'm an XC-style rider - my seat stays at full height :) - so we won't be sessioning the obstacles, but everyone is welcome to do/try out any features on the trails and we'll eventually regroup.

For those new to Demo, it's a place full of great technical terrain in lush a lush redwood forest. The ride starts off with moderate road/fireroad climbing, but rewards with longish/flowing descents on Braille and Sawpit. These two descents have various obstacles, most of which can be bypassed. There is also a short rock garden on Sawpit (and Cusacks), but they are easy compared to Santa Teresa's Rocky Ridge. Of course, these can be walked. In between these two main descents is a steepish climb on Sulphur Springs. This point can also be used as a bailout for those with time constraints. The final climb out on Hihn's Mill is long but moderate in pitch.

~20mi, 3800ft, 2.5hr ride time

Directions to SDF:

Near the top of HWY 17, take the exit for Summit Road and head east (you will cross over the highway if coming from 17S). Follow Summit Road as it turns into Highland Way in about 4 miles from the freeway exit. Continue down Highland about 6 more miles (about 10 miles from the highway 17 exit). You will see a bridge on the right and the signed entrance to the park. There is parking on Highland (or cross the bridge into the main dirt parking area, but lately it has been closed).

Please disregard the map when clicking on the map's link above. However, the coordinates are correct and you can copy and paste to your favorite map:[masked],-121.850569.

Please remember that our rides require a properly maintained mountain bike and helmet. Food and water are highly recommended. If you have questions regarding gear feel free to shoot me an email and I can make suggestions or point you to an expert.

See you out there,

Hey Andrey, sorry we missed you. What time did you get to the Demo gate? I think we started around 9:10am.
