Beginners Ride Nisene Fire Road to top of Incline- Meet at George's Picnic Area

Tires Roll at 10:15

Beginners ride climb to top of incline and back down.

The Aptos Creek Fire Road is mostly hard packed dirt with some patches of sand and leaves and a few well worn exposed tree roots. The trail is not technical but you will need mountain bike gearing for the climb.

We will have varying pace of climbing, with faster in the front and slower in the back. You can go fast or go slow. It doesn't matter! Alex and I will be there either way.

Driving to Nisene: From Highway 1 going South take the State Park Beach exit (435), turn left on State Park Drive (cross back over the highway) then turn right on Soquel Drive. After you pass the train tresle make a left turn crossing the railroad tracks onto Aptos Creek Road. Park at the Epicenter Bike Shop dirt parking area and look for Krista's silver 4Runner with the Kuat Rack and the Dirty Jane stickers.

Very good ride. I am so happy I was able to make it to the top. This is my second ride. Of course, thanks to Krista, Alex and all, I got enough courage and help from you to do it. Thanks Alex helping me with flat tire change.
One bad thing happened was, total my fault, I had a summersault just 0.2 miles to car park at last downhill. Got bruises both hands and knees. I also hit my chest, I guess on the handle. Went for a x-ray and Dr. said no fractures. But still feel pain on couple of my left ribs. anyway satisfaction with the ride is more. I may have to rest couple of weeks, then will join you guys.

"Beginner" in NorCal is way different than "Beginner" in the Midwest :) That incline chewed me up and spit me out. Looking forward to the next ride!

You did awsome! Long extended climbs are hard to get used too. After a few more rides. You will be flying up the mountain;)

Sorry! has to bail out. I am going to spend my long weekend in Los Angeles.
PS: Do you want me to check out any single tracks while I am there? ...Just kidding!
