What is your go to dish when trying a new restaurant?

It totally depends on the type of cuisine. If I'm eating Italian, I always try the gnocchi because I want to see if it's better than my grandmother's. If it's Indian, I try the malai kofta because I only like it a certain way (well, of course I *like* it any way!). For French, I generally just eat what the chef has prepared.

Picca on Pico

What is your favorite cuisine?

Right now it's Ethiopian, but my favorite changes each time I a) travel, b) take one of my student workers up on his/her suggestion, or 3) wander around L.A.

What is a hidden gem you'd like us to try?

I'll have to think about this one . . .
