  • Come join us for for a well needed Campout on Shell Island. We've entertained over 300 people last ten years on this special sandy beach. Beginners and up welcome- kayaks rent and tents for rent if needed. Itinerary: We'll paddle out to Shell Island (45 min paddle for beginners) across open mangrove flats. Azure blue waters and white sandy beaches greet the group a mile later. Ft. Desoto has been voted the best beach in the US in 2008. Well, many sea kayakers in the know say Shell Island is the king of beaches.
We'll set up camp and then be on island time mon. If you haven't kayaked out to Shell Island yet and camped you are in for a treat. The sands are perfect and the weather is ideal for camping. We'll cook out on the island our famous chilli and as night falls away we'll sit and mingle by the roaring fire. Some may steal away for a walk up the beach. If we get lucky phosphorescence activity in the waves may illuminate the shores at night. Later on you'll notice one by one people leaving the fire to retire to their tents to fall asleep to the soft waves lapping on the shore. SURLY ONE TRIP NOT TO MISS! Sunday we'll eat breakfast then enjoy the morning, cleanup and then pack up for a short paddle home. We should get back to our cars about noonish on Sunday. Cost: $45 if renting a kayak from us. ( kayaks and gear, Dinner on Saturday night, guide fees ) $10 if using your own kayak (Dinner on Saturday night)

Things to bring: water, sunscreen, camera, bug spray, lights for camping, tents, food for breakfast, appropriate kayaking clothing, water shoes or sandals, NO FLIPFLOPS, Only those who RSVP with yes and a full payment will receive info on put-in location. Space is limited so don't miss out. RSVP NOW TO SECURE YOUR SPOT.

Having second thoughts with the temperature outside (45 degrees right now). Is the trip still on?
