Gem Lake

When I lived in Fort Collins, Gem Lake was my "traditional first hike of the season"... the whimsy in my life is calling me to return.

It's 3.4 mile RT and I've always enjoyed it because it covers many types of terrain in that short hike.

Of course, if you wish to attempt the different loop hikes connected to Gem Lake, you can add some distance, up to the 14 mile large loop that has quite a slope on the western portion.

FYI, There is a fee to park. Also, it looks like it might be quite chilly next weekend, so bring hat, gloves and layers!
