What we're about

Wholly Cooking! It's a whole food plant-based cooking meetup!

Have you ever considered a plant-based diet? Do you want to take the first steps to including more fruits and vegetables into your diet? Or maybe you've been vegan/vegetarian for a few years already and are looking to learn some new recipes you can make on a weekly basis? Wherever you are in your diet, we welcome anyone and everyone to learn together in this meetup where we'll share whole foods plant-based recipes and cooking tips and tricks!

Vegans/vegetarians/omnivores/pescatarians/flexitarian/lacto-ovo....etc and everyone in between is welcome! No judgement - we're all here to learn!

So what are whole plant-based foods? Plant-based is anything that comes from a plant - that means it didn't come from an animal, but rather it grew out of the earth. Whole foods are foods in their whole form, meaning they've had minimal to no processing. For example, white rice is milled rice that's had its husk, bran, and germ removed whilst brown rice is whole-grain rice that maintains its bran and germ layer which provide more nutrients such as magnesium, phosphorus, selenium, and it's high in fiber. Our goal is to help people learn about how they can include more of these whole foods into their diet for happier, healthier life!

A little bit about us:

Our names are Monika and Ariana and we've been working in vegetarian and vegan restaurants in NYC for the past 2 years. Our combined experience includes Michelin-starred restaurant Nix, XYST, Arata, Angelika Kitchen, Avant Garden, Ladybird, Mother of Pearl, and Cienfuegos. Both of us have worked as line cooks in these restaurants with Monika having had the pleasure of working as sous chef at Arata for 6 months. We wanted to take a break from the restaurant world to teach people what we know and help people eat delicious plant-based food in their everyday life.
