Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States, with over 5 millions visitors each year. Yet, less than 1% of those visitors ever venture below the rim. Become one of the 1% and discover where the adventure really begins. Backpacking in the Grand Canyon is not only a physical challenge, but an awe-inspiring experience that will provide a deeper connection to nature, to yourself and to your fellow adventurers.
Trails: South Kaibab and Bright Angel
This is a hands-on outing where everyone participates in the planning and execution. Together we will decide on the exact itinerary, submit the permit requests and then enjoy the trip. the length of time will be any four days between October 8- October 14. So, block out the entire week until plans are finalized.
Day 1: Meet in the Grand Canyon Village and either camp or stay in hotel.
Day 2: Breakfast at Grand Canyon Village and then begin decscent into the "Canyon". Camp at designated campsite.
Day 3: Explore the "Canyon". Camp at designated campsite.
Day 4: Hike out of the "Canyon" and return to Santa Fe.
This outing is free, but there is an <awe> Grand Canyon Preparedness Course prerequisite.
