Discuss in February: The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri

Based on the results of the poll for our January 2014 book, we will read The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri for our February meetup.

From the Pulitzer Prize-winning, best-selling author of The Namesake comes an extraordinary new novel, set in both India and America, that expands the scope and range of one of our most dazzling storytellers: a tale of two brothers bound by tragedy, a fiercely brilliant woman haunted by her past, a country torn by revolution, and a love that lasts long past death. I'm really glad we were able to squeeze in our discussion before the snow started. Thanks to all for attending! Very thoughtful conversation about a beautifully written novel. Looking forward to reading more books by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Dress in layers, and wear a winter coat, hat, and gloves. It should be no colder tonight than it's been the past few weeks. It will be warm in the Barnes & Noble though! Nor'easters are nasty storms. If it should begin snowing by 6:00 or 6:30pm, I will cancel the meetup. But according to the latest forecast, the snow probably won't start until later this evening. So I think we should be able to work in our discussion before the storm hits.

I am concerned about how cold it will be to get out tonight. This is my first Nor'easter. Any suggestions for braving the cold before the storm tonight?

I am new to the area and just found your group. I have not read this title, but am excited as I have read the Namesake & Interpreters of Maladies.
