The 15 Hour Project [improv theatre event]

From: Tony
Sent on: Tuesday, March 27, 2012 9:28 AM

Everyone-

I just wanted to email about this upcoming event my improv theatre company is hosting, The 15 Hour Project. It's a great event, both for audience and for performers.

It is in a similar vein as many of the "24 Hour Play" projects, in that we create new shows from scratch over the course of the day, and present them that evening. The shows are free, and the rest of the day is inexpensive ($20- and hey, it even includes pizza lunch!), just to cover the expenses of the day. The whole thing is presented by Theatre Momentum

Are you an actor/improvisor? Excellent. Join us for this event in the morning (10 AM).

Are you just a lover of comedy? Great, come out in the evening (8 PM) and see the show! The show is free!

Here are the details:

9:30 AM — Check in

10 AM-2 PM — Workshop session

Tony Rielage, Theatre Momentum's Artistic Director, will run a 4 hour workshop to generate three brand new show formats. The structure of this workshop will use input from all workshop participants to create some truly unique shows. These shows will be performed a few times, polished a bit, and prepped for rehearsal. At the end of the workshop session, the participants will break into three groups, to work on one singular format.

2-3 PM — Lunch break Pizza lunch and drink provided.

3-6 PM — Rehearsal

After lunch, the three show forms are handed off to our three directors, John Abbott, Peter Athans, and Erin Lane. Workshoppers will rehearse the formats they created that morning, tweaking, polishing, and preparing them for performance. The shows being prepared will aim for a 30-35 minute show length.

7 PM — Call Time

Actors arrive in Studio C, are given the run-down on how the evening will be structured.

7:30 PM — Doors Open

That's right. This entire day of workshop, rehearsal, and performance will cost $20, to cover the expenses of the day. This includes a pizza lunch and snacks/drinks.

Hey, are you a returning 15 Hour Project participant? Let us know, and you can get $5 off!

For more information, or to register for The 15 Hour Project, please send an email to [address removed].

The 15 Hour Project is open to anyone, though we ask that participants have a minimum of 6 months improv/acting experience. Due to the nature of this event, it's simply easier to work it this way. If you have questions regarding this restriction, just ask.

That's the story on The 15 Hour Project. For full details about the directors, payment, and location, please check out the Theatre Momentum website. Thanks!
