Announcing a new Meetup for Windy City Explorers!

What: Discover Pilsen Tour

When: September 27,[masked]:30 AM

Nuevo Leon Mexican Restaurant
1515 W, 18th St. Pilsen
Chicago , IL 60608

Come join us on Sunday, September 27 as we discover Pilsen with a walk down 18th Street. We'll meet just outside the CTA Pink line station at 18th Street (just west of Paulina) at 10:30am We will spend an hour walking both sides of eighteenth street to discover the variety of food and merchandise stores representing this eclectic area. At 11:30 we will walk over to Casa Nuevo Leon for a Sunday Brunch. After Brunch we will continue our walk down 18th Street toward the National Museum of Mexican Art which is located on the south side of Harrison Park. The museum is free, but donations are suggested.

Note that this trip will be more of a stroll than a hike. We will begin with an overview of the area, but our stroll down eighteenth street will give people plenty of opportunity to stop into any of the stores (not all may be open on a Sunday) that interest them. There are plenty of panaderias, fruterias, carnicerias, and even a highly rated dulceria! This street is just loaded with the ethnic flavor of Mexico! If you're not into shopping for that hour stroll, just walk along with us and pop into the highly rated Jumping Bean Cafe for a relaxing place to watch the people go by. After the stroll up and down eighteenth street, the group will get back together for brunch at Casa Nuevo Leon and then the museum after that for those who are interested.
