Wine Tasting Social Mixer at Tompkins Square Bar & Grill

Tonight we’ll be at Tompkins Square Bar & Grill in Westchester for their monthly wine tasting event. Billy & Jeff Tompkins purchased the former Fireside Bar & Grill in 2004. There was a complete renovation and now Tompkins Square Bar & Grill looks to become the new landmark for generations to come! This bar & grill features a full bar menu with a great selection of wines. They feature a monthly wine tasting, every second Wednesday of the month with a selected theme. The wines to be poured this evening will be from Justin Vineyards & Wines.

Justin Vineyards & Wines is a family owned and operated winery making estate grown and produced wines. The property was founded in 1981 by Justin Baldwin when he planted the 160 acre property to the major Bordeaux varietals and created their Estate vineyard. The prime focus is on a “left bank” Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, named ISOSCELES; JUSTIFICATION, it’s “right bank” Merlot and Cabernet Franc cousin; and varietal bottlings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. They also produce limited amounts of Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Malbec, Petit Verdot, OBTUSE (Port-style dessert wine made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon), Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Viognier. The winery is located in the Paso Robles appellation of California’s Central Coast. The region’s first grapes were planted in 1779 by Franciscan missionaries and today are home to the third highest concentration of wineries in the United States.

There will be 5 - 6 wines poured this evening. Check out Tompkins Square in Facebook for more information. In addition, the chef has prepared a special appetizer menu to complement the wines.

The cost for the wine tasting is $12. You can pay at Tompkins Square (cash or credit card). The items on the special appetizer menu are mostly less than $10 for each item. There is also a dinner menu available.

The wine tasting ends at about 9 p.m. It is recommended that you arrive earlier in order to have an opportunity to enjoy the wines for this tasting before they run out.

I need to provide a number of the members who will be attending the wine tasting at Tompkins Square. So if your plans change, please update your RSVP accordingly.

Tompkins Square is conveniently located on the corner of Manchester and Lincoln next to Italy’s Little Kitchen. There is free lot and street parking. Please read the signs for any parking restrictions. It should be a great evening. Look forward to seeing you there!
