Creating Comics is a monthly meetup, where we study the craft of drawn narratives with the goal of helping people create their own comics.

In this session, Alex will be leading two exercises, both of which are discussion based, and should take around 30 minutes each.

Firstly, an exercise based on a section of The Marvel Guide to Drawing Comics; this will be focused on how the framing, composition and content of your panels can be used to make your comic more exciting and dynamic (or indeed less so, if that is what you are aiming for). Following an intro from Alex, resources will be shared, then you will discuss them in small groups. There will then be a wash-up session to compare and discuss thoughts and observations. *

Secondly, an exercise to look at the way panels are used in different comics/graphic novels to create pace, atmosphere, momentum, and to serve narrative functions. Again, Alex will provide an intro, share resources, then there will be discussion in small groups, and a wash-up session after these discussions.

*to note: Alex has delivered this exercise before, so some of you may remember it. Feel free to join it again though.
