"The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” — Nelson Henderson

WeWiN is joining the Austin Disaster Relief Network, the non-profit that focuses on bringing thousands of trained volunteers bringing hope into crisis following natural disasters. They are leading volunteer coordination for Central Texas areas impacted by recent flooding.

Lili will be rallying WeWiN volunteers Sunday. Rhonda and Saffron are volunteering Friday and and you can sign up for Friday's event here. Both events will be focused on supporting our neighbors in Leander, Texas in an area called Sandy Creek. You can learn more about the area and how they have been impacted here.

This event is coordinated through Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) and SPACE IS LIMITED SO SIGN UP WITH US here in meetup and ADRN (link below) TODAY!

What you need to know:

  • This is a full listing of ALL volunteer events through ADRN, so click the calendar icon to select the date you want to attend, choose a shift you want to work, and sign up! On my desktop it seems the roles that still need volunteers are listed in blue.
  • The shift with the greatest number of open spots for volunteers is the Response Coordination Center Volunteers Sunday from 8am - 1pm (LINK to Overview) or from 1pm - 7pm (LINK to Overview).
  • There are other opportunities listed to help such as Cleanup Assistance for Debris Removal, Greeters, Chainsaw Operators and other needs listed on Friday and the whole month of July for those with specialized skills or who wish to come another day.
  • If you sign up for site cleanup or hands-on work, dress for walking through brush (ADRN recommends long pants, long sleeves, close-toed shoes, and a hat).
  • No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to jump in and serve.
  • Meals, snacks, and drinks will be provided.

ABOUT YOUR EVENT HOST:
Lili is all about connection—with nature, community, and life itself. A lover of the outdoors, animals, yoga, and the arts, she thrives in the energy of hiking trails, spiritual and conscious-living spaces, live music, and artful gatherings around Austin. She holds a deep reverence for the sacredness of the Earth and all her relations, honoring the energy that weaves us all together. For Lili, happiness is found in working with clay, gardening, staying curious as a lifelong learner, and, most of all, in the quiet joy of sharing life with her beloved cat, Yuki.
