Announcing a new Meetup for Makeville Studio Woodworking/Craft/DIY Meetup!

What: Film Night - The Amazing Overlap of Japanese and Shaker Design

When: February 15, 2009 6:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Meetup Description: If you've ever cast an appreciative glance at a simple Shaker table or marveled at the elegant joinery in a Japanese box, then you'll enjoy this short film.

Come watch "Kindred Spirits", a companion DVD to the 1996 Mingei int'l Museum's exhibition, KINDRED SPIRITS—The Eloquence of Function in American Shaker and Japanese Arts of Daily Life.
This 27-minute film "discusses the similarities and differences between Japanese and Shaker cultures and their expression in arts of daily life."

(Thanks to Elise for the great suggestion on this one!)

No fee for this meetup.
