James Croft - "Lust for Truth: Reason as a Moral Value."

  • Apr 8, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • UU Church of Worcester

Join us at our April meeting where we will be joined once again by James Croft, a Doctoral candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), and Research and Education Fellow at The Humanist Community at Harvard, for his talk entitled, " Lust for Truth: Reason as a Moral Value."

Lecture Abstract:
Lust for Truth: Reason as a Moral Value
When we think of values, interpersonal ones tend to come first: kindness, love, charity come to mind easily, while intellectual values follow behind. But, James Croft argues, human beings are driven by a powerful moral pull toward knowledge which, in the right circumstances, can be just as strong. Throughout history great visionaries have driven by this lust for truth, and we must recognize and cultivate it in ourselves.

The program is scheduled to start at 7pm at the UU Church of Worcester, with doors opening at 6:30 for socializing and conversation. Whether you are a member or not, please consider a donation at the door.  Please watch this page for changes.

You can see the last talk he gave with GWH here:

Sorry I can't make it, but we snagged a couple of seats at Mechanics Hall to hear Tom Friedman that night.
