For our April meetup we'll have Nick Croft speaking about the WordPress REST API.

--

The WordPress REST API can be a daunting utility for developers and users alike. During the course of this presentation we will look at what the REST API actually is, how it can be helpful on a site, and specific examples of using the REST API to build features for a site.

The examples will include:

-A JavaScript integration that makes use of custom API routes and the WordPress JS REST object.
-A PHP integration that uses the REST API to fetch related content from a sister site in order to inject it into the post content.

While this is going to be a developer focused talk, the goal will be to show how the WordPress REST API can help address features that users may have in order to help improve their knowledge of what can be done with WordPress as well.

As always, food and drink will be sponsored by U.Group (formerly known as CHIEF). See their website at https://u.group/

We rely on accurate RSVP counts to estimate how much food and drink to purchase for the event. If you realize you can't make it, please update your RSVP as soon as possible.

If possible, try to arrive at the meetup before 7 PM. The doors to the building lock after 7 PM but we will have a volunteer in the lobby to escort people up to U.Group's DuPont Circle office.
