Spring in Point Reyes National Seashore

Early spring brings green hills, the first wildflowers and migrating grey whales with calves at Point Reyes Seashore. Discover the wide variety of subjects, scapes and people found here. Then break new visual territory with fresh concepts of composition including shapes, forms, colors and textures. We will explore headlands and beaches and historic towns and if luck prevails a variety of wildlife. Some of the iconic locations you will see include the Red Barn, Tomales Bay, Drake's Beach, the Point Reyes Lighthouse, Pierce Point Ranch and the adjoining Tule Elk Reserve.

You will have the opportunity to photograph people, details, architecture, wildlife and seascapes as we explore this stunningly beautiful area. Learn and practice techniques for creating compelling travel imagery that can be realistic or just evoke an emotional response and be drawn from the imagination. Expect short walks rather than longer trail hikes.

This workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels. All that is required to participate is a passion for photography and a zest for exploring the world around us.

About Christine:
Australian-born photographer Christine Krieg has travel running through her veins. She was hooked after flying over the Amazon while photographing mile-high Angel Falls over 20 years ago. Since then she has photographed and written about many exotic and beautiful places from South America to Australia to Europe to Southeast Asia, and California of course. The more remote and difficult it is to reach a destination, the more excited she is to go there. She loves to share her passion for the beautiful and amazing world we live in and her love of photography with everyone she meets. Come join her on a workshop and allow her enthusiasm to inspire you to see with new eyes.

Her work has been published in newspapers and magazines. She has officially been teaching photography since 2006 (unofficially ever since she picked up a camera.) In addition to teaching her own travel workshops on location and excited strobists about off-camera flash techniques www.meetup.com/off-camera-flash, she also guest instructs with Image Quest Tours and Ken Rockwell. [Yes, that Ken Rockwell, with the often outrageous opinions of everything under the sun.] She currently calls the San Francisco Bay Area home. You can follow her work at www.cksworld.com and make friends with her on Facebook.

Great workshop, I learned a lot and got a lot of practice! The agenda was well organized and yet flexible for everyone's needs and changing conditions on the coast...and the weather was just amazing. I loved having a such variety of subjects to photograph. I was able to practice working with different exposures, and learned some more about settings on my camera. And I really enjoyed being with such a great group of people! Thank you for a great workshop!

Thank you all for the nice workshop. From pre-dawn to post-sunset in field with little rest was a bit challenge to an 81 year old, but certainly a productive one. The nightly critique of participants work with added demo of how to improve images was particularly interesting and valuable to me. Thanks for the good company, too. ~ Kaz

Kaz, I was so surprised to read that you are 81!!! I though you were way younger, I hope I'm as energetic and spy as you when I get into my 80s! PS I still haven't remembered what it was that you were going to send to me, or that I was going to send to you....

Point Reyes never ceases to surprise and delight: amazing weather from sunshine to wicked winds to mystical morning fog. It is a new experience every time I visit this beautiful country.

I thank all the women who came on this trip. I learned from you as well and thoroughly enjoyed your company, your curiosity, your passion and all of your efforts to become better photographers. Thank you for being part of this workshop. Keep your eyes, minds and hearts open and keep creating beautiful images.

Welcome Albert! Meetup is easy. It's also a great way to find people with the same interests as you. I generally offer paid photography classes and workshops in small groups to foster sharing and intensive learning. The way you can join is by RSVPing yes. I also occasionally offer free events that are more like photo walks. Those attract much larger crowds and the experience is more about meeting other people than taking your photography skills to greater heights. Either way, welcome to Travel Photography!
