World Culture Club Message Board › Aug. 18 Skype Meetup - The (Not so) Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!
New York, NY
Long time no see! Kat is still traveling, but why not meetup on Skype? Skype is great for listening and speaking, with no distractions! (Like pretty people walking by our table…)
For this Skype Meetup, we're going to be "bad".
Chinese try not to get too negative in our speech, but that doesn't mean we don't have a wealth of terms to really criticize with! From bad to worse, we have phrases such as (if translated literally), "no energy", "exceeding the share", and "have no water level", and they are worse than they sound!
We will learn how to use fighting words and when to, as well as when not to. Join us - buran you ni haokan! - Just kidding. Kat never says bad words. :)
To join, please be sure to log on by 7:50 p.m. (after downloading your free Skype app or software, of course), contact "moreopenmind"(New York) and message, "Chinese Workshop", and I will conference-call everyone at 8 p.m. The Skype Meetup is planned for an hour.
Can you say, "You're asking for it!", or, "Who do you think you are?", or, "Get lost!", in Chinese? Not that you plan to say them anytime soon, but just in case. :) Join us!
