It's finally here! 2017 and the Columbus WordPress Meetup is hosting it's first meetup in our new place!
It's this Thursday, Jan. 5 from 6:30PM-8:00PM at The Forge, 580 N 4th Street, Suite 190. That's in the Smith Bros. building in Italian Village, very near the intersection of Goodale and 4th. Here's a map in case you need it.
We've confirmed it, then confirmed it again, and once more just to be sure. We will be there, and we hope you'll join us. We'll even have pizza! Feel free to bring a snack, dessert or drink to share.
This month one of our own members, Mike England, will be sharing a case study about the redesign of the City of Springfield website using WordPress. You can see the outline for his talk and leave any questions you might have for him here.
A few other events happening around town soon you might like to attend:
The Columbus Web Group is hosting Pursuing Passion: Learning Something New, Breaking Things, Overcoming Challenges on Thursday, January 26, 2017, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cardinal Solutions Group in the Arena District.
LearnToCode Columbus is hosting a panel discussion, Lessons I've Learned In My Programming Career on Monday, January 30, 2017, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Rev1 Ventures.
The Freelancers' Conference, April 28-30 is open for registration. We surveyed hundreds of freelancers to find out where you're struggling in your business. Then we recruited rockstar entrepreneurs who have successfully navigated the same challenges to share with us! With talks ranging from leaving your 9-5 to pricing and hiring your first team, we've got you covered. Learn more and register at http://freelancersconference.com.
And in case you missed it...
Matt Mullenwag gave The State of the Word address at WordCamp US in early December. Perhaps more than any other SotW so far, this lays out a really compelling future for the WordPress project. You can view it here.

If you have any questions about this month's meetup, or would like to suggest a talk for our meetup, please feel free to shoot Angie Meeker a message on the meetup board. See you Thursday!
