You might want to check out the Columbus Metro Parks. I believe you can rent if needed for a lot less $.  There are plenty of free parks and shelter houses too.

I have not yet attended a WordPress event and have not completed my website so I probably would not attend.

I hope you're having a great week, enjoying this amazing May we're having. I just wanted to drop you a quick note to talk about two things...

Last week, a meetup member mentioned to me that they were considering working with an SEO firm who promised them a first page ranking in Google, for $500 a month (more after they had ranked them). I know this member is not the only one who has been approached by SEO companies with an offer like this. I want to encourage you NOT to work with any company who GUARANTEES first page results. Here's a great article from Moz on why: And, Moz is a great place to start if you'd like to learn how to properly increase your search engine rankings.

For several years now, I've had the idea of the our Meetup hosting a "family reunion" of sorts for the Ohio WordPress community. Not a WordCamp, because there wouldn't be any teaching offered. Just a time for the members of the Columbus, Dayton, Cincy, Kent and Toledo meetups (and their families) to spend the day together. We would provide the meat/grill, while guests could bring drinks, sides, desserts, and games to share - much like an actual family reunion!

Every year after WordCamp, people tell us, "The sessions are great, but I really love the "Hallway track," where we just sit around and shoot the breeze in the hallways! In fact, I even had one guest say, "I wish I could just take all of these people to a park, toss frisbee and play volleyball..." :-) which is where this idea was born!

The park at Wyman Woods in Grandview would be a great location, and is available still on Saturday, August 5 (the only Sat or Sun left all summer!). The cost to rent the shelter house is $400 for non-residents (I personally don't live in Grandview Heights, or $240 for residents. We can additionally purchase an alcohol permit for $240. The total cost per family would be $20, and we'd need at least 40 guests ($800) from our own meetup to commit to attending by purchasing a ticket ahead of time. This cost will cover the shelter rental and meats for the grill.

Is that something you would be interested in? If so, please reply to this email and let me know. If we get at least 40 replies, we'll go ahead and setup a payment option for that specific "meetup" and get started!
