My sincere best wishes to all for a happy and HEALTHY 2009. I've really missed being around the mats, and haven't even been able to get on a treadmill for over a month. My doctors have been gone for the holidays, so I've had some very frustrating delays in getting my MRI/X-Rays read. Monday is the big day, so think good thoughts. I've definitely got a severely pinched nerve in my back, but the cause is still unknown. Could be anything from a spinal misalignment to tissue damage to a (gulp) bulging disk in my neck.
So, again, my advice to you guys is to learn from my bad example and keep yourselves in good condition if you are going to go live in practice. I used to buy into that "wrestle yourself into shape" stuff, but I don't think it works when you get past 35 or so. This current injury and my torn rotator cuff last year are due to trying to wrestle hard when my body wasn't in good enough condition to do it. I may be mentally strong enough to handle it, but tears/breaks/fractures don't care how macho you are. If I'm allowed to keep training this year, I'm going to be doing a lot more lifting, a lot more conditioning, and a lot more drilling. I've said that before, but five weeks of pretty frustrating pain and discomfort have done a lot to make it finally sink in.
So, anyway, didn't mean to get into that so deep, but I'm hoping to be back with you all very soon. I miss you guys, even Josh.
