AWG Meeting - Writing Exercise & Discussion

  • May 7, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We're going to try a new twist on a popular exercise we've used in the past.

Then we'll turn to a discussion of story structure as it relates to the exercise.

What makes a solid story opening? What makes a satisfying conclusion? And how to get from A to C clearly and concisely?

The discussion will be led by Joanna, David, and Thierry.

It was really great! This exercise was so much fun - it gave me the opportunity to improvise and think quickly (which is not so easy for me). I loved the idea that I could take the creative work of someone else in the group, and add to their story. The idea of picking of where the last writer left off, is brilliant. I had the best time.

The writing exercise was both a challenge and fun. Let's do it again. The bonus was our discussion.

Sadly, I have to back out, too.

Sorry I have to back out at the last minute. I have been swept away in a deluge of standardized testing...

Looking forward to the next meeting. Starting a new book in a different genre than I usually write, and finding the task a little daunting.

Jeff Miller, will you be metroing, or taking your own private jet to the meeting?

    • Jeff M.

I will most likely be Metroing from Foggy Bottom. Jet is at the shop for repair.
