Arabic/English Poetry & Live Music Night+OPEN MIC!!

WELCOME TO A NIGHT OF ARABIC POETRY AND LIVE MUSIC---PLUS OPEN MIC!

We have 3 poets lined up. After that we open up the floor to YOU! Do you have a poem or song you'd like to share? Let us know!

Live Arabic music will delight us through the sounds of the Oud and Durbekah drum.

Poems will be recited in Arabic. Then we hear the translation. Some poems will be recited in English only.

Our featured poet and musician is Saif Alsaegh. He will recite his poetry and play the durbekeh drum for us.

http://saifalsaegh.blogspot.com/

Saif Alsaegh- is an Iraqi poet\writer from Baghdad, living and studying in MT; writes poetry, plays and short stories; has performed poetry in different events and in different states such as New York, Oklahoma, Montana and Pennsylvania; has published several poems in different newspapers and publications (including the book: “The River the Palm Tree,” Witness Magazine in New York, and the Great Falls Tribune); 2-time Step to the Mic Poetry Slam Champion (Great Falls, MT); his plays were displayed at the University of Great Falls, and the University of Oklahoma; a poetry chapbook will be coming out in 2013 containing both Arabic and English poetry.

THE FUN DOESN'T STOP THERE.....

We are lucky to have a few more poets present their own poetry, as well as the poetry of poets they think we should know about including the work of Iraqi poet Ahmed Mattar.

Our additional poets/musicians:

Salam from Iraq-reciting poetry and playing barabuka

Duraid from Palestine-reciting poetry
