• Maker Space Open House! At the David Dunlap Observatory!

    David Dunlap Observatory

    CA$5.00

MAKER SPACE OPEN HOUSE! IN PERSON!

FULL AMOUNT OF FEE (we'll even eat the Meetup fee) going to Doctors Without Borders in support of their work in the Ukraine.

18 YEARS AND UP - NOT FOR KIDS - AND WE REQUEST YOU WEAR A MASK.

Come out to our open house, and see what the maker space is all about.
We'll be running demos of our laser cutter, 3D printers, CNC, electronics, Arduino and more. And making useful things out of other old things.

You'll see some of the projects our members have been working on.

And you can see a lot more about what we do on our website at https://ylab.ca

If you haven't been to the David Dunlap Observatory, it's also a great opportunity to get inside the administration building and see what we've been doing in the historic workshops.

    Why are we charging $5?

    • We are limiting numbers. COVID is still a thing.
    • Because of the limited numbers, we don't want no-shows. A token fee seems to fix that problem.
    • To support a great cause - Doctors Without Borders.

Learn what a maker space is all about and join the fun!

  • Arduino Monthly Meetup - Debugging Arduino Code in IDE 2.x

    David Dunlap Observatory

    CA$10.00

    Ylab's New Monthly Arduino Get-Together!

18 years and up - not for kids.

New to Arduino? Experienced but want to learn more? Want to jump in on a project?

    Our monthly Arduino night features:

    • A quick presentation topic - that you can ignore if you want - for the first 30 to 60 minutes (don't be late!)
    • All kinds of Arduino accessories to try out and learn on
    • Help and guidance if you are new to it and want to learn, or if you're hitting a problem on your own project.

    This month's topic:

DEBUGGING ARDUINO CODE WITH ARDUINO ZERO BOARDS

    We'll demonstrate:

    • Basic debugging techniques on Arduino boards using the IDE
    • Advance debugging using the additional hardware features of the Arduino Zero board and the new IDE 2.0

External debuggers are available for Arduino Uno and other boards... but they're more expensive than buying an Arduino Zero that will do it all for you!

BEGINNERS? NEW TO ARDUINO? COME ON IN!

Ylab has run a series of 3 introduction to Arduino classes. You can work through them on your own (free!) or come in to these Arduino nights for help and guidance.

    It's all available here

    You need to bring:

    • Your own laptop, pre-loaded with the Arduino IDE software. Version 2.0.3 is now stable so you can use it or scroll down on the page to get[masked] for the earlier interface.
    • USB cable to connect the Arduino to the laptop
    • Arduino Uno board

If you do not have an Arduino board, we can provide one for $30 with the cable. Tax included.

NOTE: If you are visually impaired, we can provide a 19" monitor to attach to your laptop for the session. No additional charge!
