Harrogate's Glorious Gardens & Wonderful Woodland - 4 miles

Details
We start our walk at the entrance to Valley Gardens (opp. Pump Room) and take a path through the lovely gardens before picking up a woodland trail through Pinewoods. This will bring us adjacent to Harlow Carr Gardens and then from here we make our way past the defunct Harrogate Arms to pick up the main woodland trail as we make our way towards the rocky outcrop of Birks Crag. Emerging from the woodland, we briefly find ourselves on the edge of urbanisation before descending into woodland again, bringing us back into Harrogate’s palatial suburbia and our start point.
The walk is dominated by woodland trails and our route has quite a bit of up and down, its quite hilly and not your average short walk! It may be muddy in places and be prepared for rocky uneven sections as well as tree roots embedded across the tracks that we walk along. You will have to climb up and over a couple of rocks (Birk Crag) as well.
The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.
Walk fee: £2. No dogs please.
After-walk refreshment at the Old Bell pub, just around the corner from our start point.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
