Billy Goat "A" Charity Hike for Cancer Prevention

Let's hike a popular trail for a great cause: A $10 charity hike towards the prevention of breast cancer!!

Victoria, a fellow hiker and climber and a member of The Young Adventures, is out to support the efforts in eliminating breast cancer! She takes great pride in prior high altitude endurance climbs, and she is out to prove her dedication once again!! This year, she will be summit Mt Washington on Labor Day with cancer survivors. Let's support her by participating in a charity hike on the Billy Goat Trail "A" (on the Maryland side of Great Falls). We are asking for a small $10 donation to support the Breast Cancer Fund - the only national organization strictly looking at the environmental causes of this destructive disease. Come out and learn a little about how we can decrease our likelihood of developing cancer and support Victoria as she summits Mt Washington!

Come join us for one of the favorite hikes in the D.C. Area - the Billy Goat Trail A and Great Falls Overlook! The Billy Goat Trail is a popular hiking trail between the C&O Canal and the Potomac River within the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Historic Park.  It's one of the most well-known hikes in the metro DC area for good reason; its loads of fun with spectacular views and lots to see. The trail has three sections: A, B, and C.  We'll be hiking the most popular (and most difficult) section: section A, which is located on Bear Island and is about 1.7 miles long. On this hike, we'll experience breathtaking vistas, some rock/boulder scrambling (see picture above), views of Mather Gorge and Purple Horse Beach, and a scenic view of Great Falls from the Maryland side.

We will meet at the beginning of the parking lot at 9am.  We are asking each hiker donate $10 via cash or check (made out to the Breast Cancer Fund) and to JOIN IN on a fantastic rock scramble, for a great cause, and with a phenomenal group people!

Comfortable clothes and shoes are a MUST!

This is a family event, bring your husband-wife-sister-brother-son-daughter-cousin and invited the whole neighborhood to join.
Is for a very good cause...Helps us to help!!!

Please feel free to invite friends and ask me questions! CLIMB hopes of a future free of worry of cancer diagnosis and treatments!!
CARPOOL: Don't forget if you want a ride or are willing to offer a ride – be a friend to the environment, save money, and make friends by just posting a message!!
Have a ride: Please post where you are coming from, what time, and how many spots you have.
Need a ride: Post that you need a ride and contact any offers via e-mail for those that are offering rides.
