• Sunday morning Tibetan meditation and reading

Shambhala Meditation Center of Los Angeles - Eagle Rock

The L.A. Shambhala Meditation Center (writer Pema Chodron's Buddhist tradition) now rejects father-son gurus Sakyong and Chogyam, so we're happy to sit with them. Brief Tibetan serenity (samatha) sessions alternate with a gong that signals brief mindful walking. At 11:00 we read from Gaylon Ferguson's "Natural Bravery" and have a conversation and tea. For beginners/intermediate. Wear loose cotton clothes or stretchy yoga pants for maximum comfort for sitting on soft cushions, sturdy cotton-blocks, and padded mats. Drop in for part or all anytime between 9:00-11:30 a.m. FREE/by donation. Meditation instruction available by request.

  • Free Mindfulness Meditation drop-in at UCLA

    Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center

We have meditation sessions on M, T, W, and Th. See here: https://www.uclahealth.org/marc/body.cfm?id=61&iirf_redirect=1 (http://marc.ucla.edu/free-drop-in-meditation). Mindfulness, which the Buddha called smrti and sati, has scientific support as a means of reducing stress, improving attention, boosting mood and the immune system, reducing emotional reactivity, and promoting general health and well-being. Drop-in sessions are led by Diana Winston, Dr. Marvin Belzer, and guest teachers (at MARC, Mindful Awareness Research Center). Open to everyone interested in learning how to live life more in the "present."
