April Evening Meetup - Weds the 21st - Michelle Bird Studio, Winterthur

  • Apr 21, 2010 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Update 19 Apr: by a narrow margin, you voted in favor of having snacks and drinks pre-arranged. So I will do that, and ask that you contribute CHF 15 if you come. /jc Our next evening meetup should be a lot of fun. One of our members, the artist Michelle Bird (info below), has generously offered the use of her studio in Winterthur, so we will be able to mix freely in a private setting.
Agenda We will try a new format this time: many people have said they would like to speak in front of other members as a group, but they don't necessarily want to do an extended presentation. So here's how it will go - everyone who attends will be given the floor for 3-5 minutes, and can speak about whatever he or she pleases. You can simply introduce yourself and tell us what you're working on, pitch an idea, ask for feedback, offer your services, or whatever else you like. Knowing how diverse and creative we are, I'm sure this will generate some interesting discussion. After the short presentations, there will be as much free mingling as time allows.
Refreshments I would like your help in deciding what we should do about food and drinks for this meetup. The options are (1) I buy them beforehand and ask everyone to contribute some cash, or (2) we do a "potluck", where everyone contributes something.
See note above.
Location and Directions You can find a map of the location here:
http://www.michellebi... If you will be coming by train, take Bus 4 from the main station, in the direction of Breite, to Nussbaumweg. If you will be coming by car, please park on the side streets or at the Breiteplatz Minigolf just 200 meters from the studio.
About Michelle Bird Michelle Bird: artist; abstract expressionist painter, producer of MAP Magazine and art events coordinator. She paints from her studio in Winterthur and exhibits in Europe and the US. Has lived in San Francisco, Amsterdam, and now for the past 5 years in Winterthur.

I thought last night was fantastic - a great format and many thanks to Michelle for hosting the event in her studio. To hear about member's business ideas - their successes, and challenges was great. I sensed a real feeling of mutual support and openeness - the sharing of experiences, giving ideas and contacts, recommended reading and so on. A great event and thank you for giving me the opportunty to profile my business.
