I've started using Cython is bit lately for a couple of projects and could give a quick introduction to what it is and perhaps run a short tutorial. Cython, for those who don't know, is a python to C compiler that that turns your python code into a compiled C libraries. It also extends python with features like type declaration that allows for further compiler optimization.  Using cython I've managed to get 10-15x performance improvements in critical functions with relatively little extra work.

Hi,

We currently don't have any meetings scheduled for the spring. If you have a topic you would like to hold a session about, please suggest it to me. I just received a very kind offer from Spotify who would be willing to host a GothPy meeting this spring, so all we have to come up with is a topic and someone to lead the meeting.

Anyone feeling inspired to do this?

Emily
